Post 27th September 2008 - Easton 5 v 0 Newton Flotman
Easton returned to league action this week after the trouncing of Erpingham last week knowing that the game against Newton Flotman would be tougher. Easton welcomed Tom Payne back in the fold this week and he slotted into Centre Back, otherwise were unchanged from the previous week.

Newton Flotman on a back of a 3 game unbeaten run kicked off and started brightly camping Easton back in their own half for the first 5 minutes, despite the possession Newton Flotman never stretched the Easton back four. Easton started to ease into the game with P.Gibbs and P.Anderson starting to influence the centre of the park and N.Moggan starting to capatalise on the space given to him on the right wing.

With Easton starting to exert some pressure on the Newton Flotman defence they looked like the team who would make the first mistake and P.Gibbs capatalised on this with a superbly taken Free-kick from 20 yards curled into the top corner after a foul on N.Moggan.

Easton continued to get in behind the fullbacks with M.Cartledge and N.Moggan dominating the wings and the second goal came whilst the game was still very balanced. P.Anderson kept the ball alive in the penalty box and N.Moggan crossed before L.Newton brought the ball down and drove it home.

Newton Flotmans goalkeeper injured himself and had to be replaced and a clash of heads between a Newton player and P.Gibbs which resulted in a 10 minute delay and both players requiring stiches slowed the game down until half time. Both players were reported to be okay post match, with P.Gibbs requiring some hair gel to get the untouched look about it again.

With Newton Flotman rocked by the injuries to 3 players, Easton dominated the second half from the outset. The back four of Easton being marshalled by T.Payne looked solid, with S.Rix and S.Shaw (later replaced by S.Loftus) being allowed to get forward to support the wingers. The third goal was never going to be far away and T.Wickham played the ball down the left for L.Newton to cross and an easy finish and well deserved goal for the lively S.Halton.

Easton who have failed to finish games off in the past continued to drive forward and T.Wickham cut inside from the left trailblazing a path to goal for a sublime finish into the bottom corner. Easton eased off but a poor goal-kick straight to N.Moggan allowed E.Jack to lay the ball off for L.Newton to curl the ball into the corner from distance with the goalkeeper stranded.

Easton fully deserved the 3 points in a game that they dominated for large periods, although Newton Flotman looked lively at times but lacked the cutting edge today to trouble Easton.

Best wishes to both players and hope they both make a speedy recovery. Thanks again to Mick who ref'd and allowed the game to go ahead and did a fine job as always.
